Markdown Locker is built to be local-first. Your notes stay on your device.
The app and browser extension do not collect personal data, analytics, or usage statistics. There is no account system and no cloud sync in the current version.
All markdown files you save are stored locally in a folder on your computer:
~/Documents/Markdown Locker (or ~/Markdown Locker if that folder already exists)Downloads/Markdown Locker/We cannot access this folder. It is yours.
The Chrome / Brave extension runs page extraction on your device when you open the popup.
Content is not uploaded to Markdown Locker servers. Optional native messaging writes
.md files only to the local Locker path. Selection memory stays in browser storage on your machine.
The app makes network requests when you use From URL (to fetch the page you asked for), and when you use Think / Tidy / some dictation paths with your own API key (to the provider you chose). No analytics or tracking endpoints are included. The extension does not phone home.
Markdown Locker does not share your notes with us. Model providers only receive what is sent when you use your API key. Payments for Pro are handled by Stripe.
If this policy changes in a future version (for example if optional cloud features are added), we will update this page and note the date.
